Happy World Book Day everyone! Despite the more official aspects of this day being limited to only children and schools, and it seems for most aspects only the UK, I think it is still a great time to promote reading in general. I did try and find the Australian counterpart but alas Google failed me; but we can easily jump aboard the UK’s day.
According to their website, World Book Day is a “celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading”, and there is nothing age or location specific about that part of it. If you live in the UK and want to learn more about it and get involved for next year you should, but for the rest of us we should just take the time to read and to really appreciate the authors, the stories, the illustrators, and most of all the glory that they provide when we read.
Now go forth, enjoy your World Book Day wherever you are, and don’t forget to read something spectacular!
