Top Ten Tuesday: Covers That Caught My Eye

Topic:  Cover Freebie – Covers That Caught My Eye

I actually couldn’t decide what topic to do for this week. I tossed up about colours, prettiest, animals on the covers. In the end, I decide to do the covers that made me pick up the book. Not because I liked the author already, not because it was recommended to me, but I saw these covers and it made me pick up the book and read the blurb and subsequently, the book.

2. The Library of Shadows by Mikkel Birkegaard

3. The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

6. The Shadow Thief by Alexandra Adornetto

Top Ten Tuesday: Things That Make Me Want To Read A Book

Topic:  Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want To Read A Book

There aren’t many things that make me instantly want to read a book, but there are enough things that have me grabbing for my wallet or a library card.

1. Has a quote from an author I love on it

I discovered that I will buy anything that has a quote from Melina Marchetta on it. Or if John Marsden mentions a book/author I will read them.

2.  If it’s by an author I love

On that same note, if an author I love has a new book out, I am hunting down a copy as soon as possible.

3. Is a fairytale retelling

I am a sucker for fairytale retellings, whether it is Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Princess and the Pea. All of them are divine.

4. Is a Shakespeare retelling

These are rarer in terms of what I have actually read, but I have a long TBR list of Shakespeare retellings I plan to get to one day.

5. If there is a movie coming out

I am a big fan of reading the book before the movie. So much so I only just got around to reading The Hunger Games which meant I could finally watch the movies. Books always come first.
